Southampton Football Club - St. Mary's Stadium
This system has been in use since 2001 and is an example of the value that can be obtained by choosing durable hardware to operate in exacting environments.
The Club’s problem was how to serve thousands of customers in a short time before the game and during the interval.
Even more importantly, they needed to reconcile the stock and the takings before the staff (including temporary staff) left at the end of the game.
Obviously, the equipment had to be robust and reliable.
The solution was to install 108 Geller-Vectron MiniPos terminals on a single network in St Mary’s Stadium. These are solid-state, stand-alone and intelligent but also on-line in real time when they need to be – such as for price/name changes and end of session reports.
The simple keyboard design allows new or temporary staff to use the machine intuitively with little or no training.
The key advantage of this system is that the average sale time is now under 45 seconds per customer.
